Despite being “chopped” in the Entree Round of the popular Food Network Television Show “Chopped Junior,” Stroudsburg resident Isaiah Hooks has been asked to return to appear in another cooking contest, the new “Food Network Star Kids.”

Like each of the contestants competing on the show, Isaiah isn’t permitted to talk about the outcome or provide specific details of the competition until after the Food Network airs the program.

Now, his attention is back to television and Isaiah said he was thrilled when producers asked him to return to the Food Network for a chance to compete in the first Stars Kids championship where the winner will get their own series on the network.

Hosted by actress-turned-food celebrity Tia Mowry and popular food writer and photographer Donal Skehan, Star Kids features 10 junior finalists participating in a variety of culinary, on-camera and social media challenges over six episodes.

In the premiere episode contestants are immediately are thrown into the spotlight to present a 30-second live audition to prove to their mentors why they have earned a chance to be the Food Network Star Kids winner.

The contestants must cook up a memorable dish that expresses their food personality, accompanied by a Snapchat cooking tip, according to a release.

“These young finalists have come from all over the country to compete, bringing with them ambition and incredible talent both in the kitchen and in front of the camera,” Didi O’Hearn, the senior vice president of programming for the Food Network & Cooking Channel, said in a news release.

“Tia and Donal are fantastic mentors for the kids, having evolved their culinary skills while growing up in front of the camera, making them the perfect fit to help the next generation of star chefs in the making,” O’Hearn said.

Isaiah enjoyed meeting Skehan and Mowry, the one-time child star who shared a starring role with her twin sister, Tamera, on the hit show “Sister, Sister.”

With a love of all sorts of foods, including international dishes and open faced sandwiches, salmon and chicken, Isaiah said he still doesn’t have just one specialty.

His extensive menu, which he features on his website, includes stuffed peppers with sausage and tomato; chicken and rice; mini crab cakes with mango chutney; chicken parmesan lasagna; pesto alfredo with grilled shrimp on a bed of pasta; New York strip steak with mashed potatoes; oxtails cooked in stew tomatoes with yellow rice and short rib ragu with mashed potatoes.
